Oven & Range problems we fix

Gideon has over 15 years of experience with gas and electric ranges, wall ovens, slide-in and freestanding models, and glass-top and coil cooktops. Igniters, elements, sensors, switches and control boards are the parts most often involved, and we test before we replace.

You get an estimate by phone before the visit. After the diagnosis, the price is confirmed before any work starts.

  • Oven won't heat, or heats slowly

The bake element, the igniter on a gas oven, a thermal fuse or the control board.

  • Burner won't light, or clicks without stopping

A spark electrode or spark module, a wet or dirty igniter, or a clogged burner head.

  • Temperature is off, food bakes unevenly

The temperature sensor, a weak igniter, a failed convection fan, or the oven needs calibrating.

  • Electric burner not heating

The burner element, its receptacle or the infinite switch; on glass tops, the radiant element or its switch.

  • Door won't close, or the glass is loose

The hinges, door springs, gasket or glass retainers.

  • Self-clean lock stuck, or the display is dead

The door lock motor or switch, the control board, or a thermal fuse that blew during a self-clean cycle.

  • Gas smell, or yellow and uneven flames

Turn the burner off and call. A burner orifice, the regulator or burner alignment is usually the cause; a strong gas smell is a call to the gas utility first.

  • Error codes (F1, F2, F9 and others)

Usually the control board, the temperature sensor or the door lock. We test the part the code points to.

How a repair visit works

No surprises: you know the cost before we start.

  1. 1. Call or send the form

Tell us the brand and what the oven & range is doing. We go over the service-call fee and an estimate by phone and book a time, often the same or next day.

  2. 2. Diagnosis at your home

The technician tests the oven & range, explains what failed and confirms the repair price before any work begins.

  3. 3. The repair

Many repairs finish on the first visit. If a part has to be ordered, we tell you the lead time and schedule the return visit.

Questions about oven & range repair

Do you repair both gas and electric ranges?

Yes, and dual-fuel models too: gas cooktops with electric ovens.

Can you fix a wall oven or a cooktop on its own?

Yes. Built-in wall ovens, drop-in cooktops and slide-in ranges are all serviced in place.

My oven is 15 years old. Is it worth repairing?

Often yes: igniters, elements and sensors are inexpensive parts on most ranges. If the control board has failed and the part is no longer made, we tell you before you spend anything.

How soon can you come?

Same-day and next-day appointments are often available on weekdays. Call or send the quote form and we confirm a time.
